Open Source Learning

Open Source from The Second Design

We care about designing serious learning environments — not just keeping material locked away. This is where we share selected sessions, workbooks, and tools under open licenses so other educators, communities, and teams can build on them.

Everything here is meant to be re-used, remixed, and adapted — as long as you credit The Second Design and respect the license on each project page.

Current open source releases

These are live experiments in sharing our work. We’ll add more over time as sessions become stable enough to be useful outside our own programs.

Session + workbook

Shitty First Draft

A session that helps learners get past perfectionism, ship rough first versions, and treat “bad” drafts as a necessary step to good work. Includes the full slide deck and participant workbook.

More Real World Ready components

We’re slowly open-sourcing more building blocks from Real World Ready — activities, prompts, facilitator tools, and templates that have proven themselves across multiple cohorts.

If you’d like something specific to be open-sourced, tell us in the contact form.

Want to build on this work or co-create something new?

If you’re a college, community, or organisation that wants to adapt these resources at scale — or co-design new open materials — we’re happy to explore it.
